When is the best time of year to go to the Crater of Diamonds?

I would love to visit the Crater of Diamonds in Murfreesboro, AK. For you rockhounds out there, is there a time of year that is best to hunt? I imagine summer is probably a busy time of year. Is it better to go when it’s not so busy? I want to be successful on my first trip there!

Late spring, when its not too hot. Its a blast, but dont be an UBER like me and wear a dress, LOL.

if you are wanting to go to the Crater of Diamonds State Park…I’d try going to Arkansas (AR) not Alaska (AK)….other than that….I personally haven’t been, but I live in Arkansas…summers do get very hot and VERY humid here….I’d probably say spring.

Personally after several trips to the Crater, I feel the best time for digging is in fall. The summers are very hot, yet manageable if you really want to find a diamond. Fall just happens to be my favorite time of year in Arkansas, and seemingly the most productive. The weather is mild, and the scenery is beautiful. Perfect days for finding diamonds.
We have also been digging in spring. Be ready for unpredictable weather. The rains can help you in surface searching. Yet diamonds are recovered every day, of every season.
Attendance at the park is usually highest in the summer months. However, reports of large diamond finds swell tourist populations regularly. Perhaps that could be your diamond.
I would recommend learning all you can about the Crater of Diamonds before you go. Not everyone finds a diamond on their first trip. However, with some good research you certainly can increase your chances.
