Yes, i’m pretty sure this has been documented. 1981, Allen Hills of Antartica, diamonds were found within the meteorite. 1987 University of Chicago found Diamonds embedded in a meteorite. In both cases, the diamonds are microscopic.

If it can form diamonds, then it has happened, if not, how else would would know it could happen?
The resulting diamonds are called nanodiamonds or microdiamonds and can be used as indicators for impact sites, which is important since Earth processes quick destroy crater evidence.
