How do they mow the baseball diamonds to get the designs they have?

it is the direction off the mowers they use……in a certain direction the grass will appear greener than in the opposite direction…they just simply cut in a pattern for contrast of the 2.

They move the mowers one way, then go back up the other way.

The grounds crew drags a hard rubber roller behind the riding mower, and sometimes even without actually mowing. The rollers push the grass over in the direction the driver is going. The grass reflects the sun at different angles depending on which way it has been pressed appearing to give the grass two different colors. I have watched the crew do this on occasion.
